Tuna Maths

This week we have been doing some measurement using the Tuna we found in Nottingham Stream which was 1 metre long. We had to use a ruler or 1 metre piece of wool to find things that were shorter than 1 metre, longer than 1 metre and the same length as 1 metre.

We had so much fun exploring the studio measuring everything we found and working together. Have a look at what we got up to below!

What make a healthy stream

This week we have been talking about what a healthy stream looks like.

Today we worked with Jenny again from the Working Waters Trust. We brainstormed what the good things we noticed about the Nottingham Stream were and what the bad things were. We brainstormed in groups and then shared with everyone.

Next, we brainstormed what we could do to help fix the bad things we noticed at  Nottingham stream. We came up with lots of great ideas about what we could do.

Experimenting with print making

We had fun making block prints with the glue gun and cardboard. Once we made our block print we rolled our block with ink then made different coloured prints.

Our Trip to Nottingham Stream

We have continued learning more about eels during our Urban Eel programme. We visited the Nottingham Stream and explored some activities carried out by Jenny and some of our year 7 and 8 students.

There were 3 different stations

Touching the eel and learning about its body.

We released the Tuna back to the river.

Looking for invertebrates and bugs.

Testing water quality and temperature.

I felt the eel. It was slimy and the eel was like jelly.

The eel was slimy and the eel was soft. The eel was caught in a net.
