Learning how to program...

This week we have been doing coding activities. We have been writing programs to make a kid bot or a beebot move. We have been using commands forwards, backwards, right, left, quarter-turn and half-turn. 

We had lots of fun working with our buddies using the Bee-Bots, the Bee-Bot app and doing unplugged coding.

We had turns being the programmer, the bot and the tester. The tester had to check to see if there were bugs in the program that needed fixing.

Floating and sinking

This week we read the book - Will they Float?

 

We then tested to see what objects we could find to float. We made a prediction first and recorded our observations.

Potion making

 Today we made potions. We mixed red cabbage water with vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, tartaric acid and dishing washing liquid to see what would happen. Some potions bubbled and changed colour. Depending on what ingredients you used it would be a different colour. My potion was purple. I used dishing washing liquid. For a little bit of time mine was green at the bottom and pink at the top. It looked really pretty. Then the dishwashing liquid went cloudy and stopped being green and it looked like a big cloud at the bottom of the cup.
