Today was Pirate Day in Tī Kōuka.
We read many books with fun pirate stories.
We had a treasure hunt during maths time. The treasure was hidden everywhere.
Then we made graphs that showed how many of each treasure item we collected.
Welcome to our studio blog. We are 75 Year 1 and 2 ACTIVE Halswell kids who are excited about sharing our learning. We hope you enjoy our posts and we would love you to leave a comment.

Today we had our first day back at Kapa Haka. We all went over to the hall with Ahuriri, we got to use rakau and poi and sang one of our favourite songs 'Pusi Nofo'.
Check out some of our photos from today!
Our studio is called Huritini (who - rree - tee - knee) Learning Centre.
Huritini is the original name of parts of the Halswell River. It means ''many turns.''
We all may be different kinds of fish but in Huritini we all swim together.
Today during assembly, Mr McCallum our wonderful librarian shared this lovely story with us.
This story is about how to show love when we can't hug each other.
You might like to read it at home too!
This week for maths we are looking at statistics and sorting. Today we used shapes, we sorted them into 2D shapes, then discussed the other ways we could sort them. We came up with sorting by colour, shape and colour and the first sound of their name.
Then we looked at 3D shapes, we decided to see how many we could name and then went on a hunt to find some of the 3D shapes around the classroom. It was really hard to find any cones and pyramids, can you find those shapes at home?
Today we read a book about how one Chinese family in New Zealand celebrates the Chinese New Year.
Some children then chose to make lanterns or Chinese dragons during ACTIVE play.
